My last day

Today I got an e-mail from Marti. She is head of the Youth Initiative, Toyota's little attract people under 40 pet.

She asked me to do some research on the ****S in europe. I found some interesting blogs, and some fan pics... I gave them all to Marti.

No one knew that it was my last day, and when they found out, they seemed disappointed. My boss said I was bright and a great worker, told me that he wanted to call me and talk about it later this week.

with that I left, a little schwagg knowledge and experience richer.

Then there was silence....

Now that all of my projects have been completed, I feel like an inmate waiting for the inevitable.

I have just sit at my desk, reading blogs and walking slowly.

--------------------
I was sought out because I "am the only one on this floor that can drive a stick." I was sent to another side of campus where I had to move a camry that was covered head to toe in "Mun2!" That was fun.

And.... GO!

Today I gave my presentation. It was glorious.

I was able to answer all of their questions and I kept "uhm's" to a minimum.

Today's meeting was amazing! All of our districts were their, the USA (us) Europe, Japan, the pacific islands, Australia, Canada. All sitting around one table discussing a problem, working together. We even sang together.

Ume

Is the name of othe Top Japanese executive who we entertained yesterday, Friday.

First my old boss and I hoped into the company Sequia
and sped over to pick up 3 execs from Japan. They were perfect, as if
they steped out of a movie. One of them Matzu, was skinny and dorky
with an excitedly timid smile on his face, and the Michael Jackson
flood pants going. The other, his name escapes me (started with a K),
was older and mostly zenlike silent. They were waiting on the last one,
obviously the Alpha. He appeared in tight designer jeans and long,
extreemly well kept black hair. He had gentil, small, feminie features,
like a character from an anime film. That was Ume. They all had cameras around their necks. priceless.

First we went to Digital domain.
Possable the best reel I have ever seen. When I said this to a creative
we at lunch with, he said bitterly, "sure, when you can have the
titanic sinking, and Apollo 13 taking of and New York freezeing over in
your reel, it tends to impress."

I met the CEO, he said he worked for Goerge Lucas, but started his own
company because they had religious differences. ("Lucus thought he was
God, I didnt agree").

Then we had lunch at Napa Valley Grill, I had a raw fish sandwitch, that plegged me for the rest of the day.

We then went upstairs to Sway.
Another, smaller, CG house, no Titanics there. But they did have the
most amazing. wonderful. simple. breakthropugh. That is about to
seriously change both vido-games and car commercials. I wish I could
talk about it. WOW.

Then off to Universal Studios to watch some of the filming of "ageing"
the latest Tundra spot. Huddled around kraft services. Got tended to,
as the client. I like being the client, no wonder they act like this.

Then the VIP tour, I think they sent the most attractive guide they
could find. As trams full \of the unimportant slithered by, we got to
walk around the old sets, touch the walls and historic sets, and oogle
the plane crash scene from "War of the Worlds."

Then we ate at the BB King grill.I think they enjoyed themselves. And I even think they liked me.
An interns Pride

What an exciting day.
its the new Toyota.com.

What excites me about today is that, as an intern, my company wide
announcement is the first story on our intranet homepage. Its like 3
lines, but you cling to what you have.

Presentation ad confusum

Two things had me questioning
reality and my place in it today.

One was "this sentence
is false."

The other is how I am supposed to get to digital
domain tomorrow.

This Friday and following Monday are the climax of my internship, once it is
past, I will be only a shadow of an intern, with no real purpose.

Hai!

What if the way I stand during my presentation somehow makes
an inference that their mothers are promiscuous?

I am starting to get a little "Rob" about this
presentation. (the smallest things stress me out and I feel the need to point
out the obvious) Once more, the one person who can help me straight this out,
my supervisor, is on a Tacoma
shoot. (yet another I did not get invited to.

I have shown my A3 to numerous other people, and read a
little bit about presenting. All well and good.

At least I know I am smart.

Playing God

Today I searched through various Off-roading groups/bloggers
to decide who is worthy of being invited to a special FJ Cruiser events.

I ran into Eugene Cole, obviously the king
of the FJ/ Land Cruiser blogesphere, and avid jew/
gun owner

I am learning to propagate my own brand image of knowing what is going on at
the moment, I have to admit it is putting quite a bit of pressure on me as old
folks come from left and right to see what is sexy right now online... I even
get invited to meetings where they ask me... and I often don't know.

I guess I should keep up my studies.

Day of the Widget

Today I mastered my PC widgets.

I think that Toyota should have a widget, be the second major company to see their appeal (beyond the novelty of apple).

But what would that Toyo widget do?

Show pictures like a picture frame? Play music games or videos? Will the Toyo Widget go the way of Clippy?

Today I also saw Top Secret cars, and let me just say, the future of
Toyota is bright, and Nissan might need to ramp up their sexy a little
more to keep their "sexy" lead.
It was amazing.

She made me promise to take a new picture for the intern brochure because my long hair was atrocious and I looked so "strapping" with short hair.

The impossible journey

Today it is my job to reverse engineer when and how other
companies use CAD data to create CGI.

As hard as it sounds, its even harder to do, its taken a lot
of assumptions; and as we all know to assume makes an ass out of you and me.

At least the agency is being nice to me know, I got a tour
of a CG Studio in Culver city... that is the kind of thing that brightens a

Check one off the list

Today I presented my "Out of the box" strategy to the uber boss... but I renamed it "unconventional" so that I wouldn't feel like an utter idiot when I have to say it in front of him.

It went well, he said I was bright/ told me to come back and work at Toyota, also he was surprised that I referred to being a teenager as in the past... I guess I will let that one slide.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I was really looking forward to a meeting today that got canceled, I had been waiting, trying not to get caught up in something else so that I would be alert for it. I guess for good things, I must wait...

Work late, no pay

Thank God I was able to end the day watching Mindy make out with the uber Nerd on the WB, because today was rough.

I spent most of my time waiting for people to get back to me on things. Then when it all came in at 4:50, I had to stay an extra hour and a half to get it all done in time to present in the morning.

On top of all that, I get an e-mail from the Saatchi guy saying that the big ass paper I have been writing is now going to be a little thing with almost none of the information i spent the past month tracking down.

Ph well thats life.

A long Day

Today was a long day.

I got back to the, cringe, "out of the box" strategy, I present it to the corner office boss on friday.

I spent the entire day studying Toyota's only two attempts at doing anything interesting... Long story short, they were not that interesting.

And now we wait.

Today I put a cap on my CGI paper and am in waiting for the Saatchi guy to get back to me.

I overheard a conversation of one of my bosses with that guy.... I heard my boss say "its a first draft, give him a break," followed by repeatedly reassuring him that we still have two and a half weeks until the paper is due.

I will be doing my best not to think about that, and remain optimistic. I thought It was pretty good for a first draft, thorough; only lacking what I could not possibly know about the company being that I am an intern of about 3 weeks...

It will be a white paper for the ages!

What you make of it

You life is what you make of it.

I could be complaining that I have to learn a new trade to write this CGI paper -- Namely CGI, or, I could embrace the chance to read complicated papers all day and come out smarter.

I chose the latter
